Katherine is passionate about passing on craft skills and ’textile stories’ and runs regular workshops, which explore creative upcycling using patchwork and quilting techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own favourite textiles to use and to join in a discussion about the stories and memories associated with these pieces. Pre-loved and vintage textiles are also provided for each session. A kit is provided for each participant to take home and continue quilting. The kit comes wrapped in vintage fabric which can be cut in to a patchwork shape and used for your quilt. Inside is a booklet of visual instructions and inspirations, needle and thread. Beginner and intermediate level sessions offered. Please email for next workshop dates. |

Bricolage showing at Tent London 24th-27th September 2009. More updates on Bricolage soon...
Bricolage is an exciting new design collective specialising in contemporary bespoke textiles and ‘off the shelf’ products. This London based collective has recently been formed by its five members after meeting at Chelsea College of Art & Design. As a response to the current climate of belt tightening and gloom, our creative ‘make-do’ attitude has seen us join together to share resources and support each other to continue creating exciting textile products. Our expertise covers a variety of traditional and innovative textile skills, ranging from screen-printed wall-papers; printed fabrics; knit; crochet and up cycled quilting. We share an aesthetic which favours a bold use of colour, an appreciation for traditional craft skills and sustainable materials and processes. Our passion is creating intelligently-designed, beautiful textiles.
I shall be teaching 4 workshops at the Knitting and Stitching Show, London in collaboration with art of the STITCH on 8th and 9th October 2009. I have designed the workshop to co-inside with the Action Man Quilt that is to be exhibited during this event and will use the left over dolls clothes and accessories from making the quilt. The exhibition art of the STITCH is accompanied by A Closer Look – a programme of lectures, workshops and demonstrations from some of the internationally renowned and innovative artists exhibiting in art of the STITCH. Take this opportunity to look with them in more detail at their particular and distinctive artistic practice; inform your own professional development and inspire your students. |
